What is Thermodynamics?
Physics branch that deals with the relationship between heat energy and kinetic energy and events related to this subject.
The science of thermodynamics generally studies the behavior of work or heat applied substances, and teaches ways of calculating the amount of work or heat that needs to be added or subtracted to cause certain state changes.
Application areas of Thermodynamics:
The application areas of thermodynamics include automobile engines, airplanes, rocket and jet engines, spacecraft, steam turbines, gas turbines, air conditioning systems and computer designs. Even the human body can be shown as an important application area of thermodynamics.
For example; The designs of computers, televisions, water heaters, irons, pots, gas and electric ovens or heaters, air conditioners and the like were made using thermodynamic principles.
THERMODYNAMICS LAWS
The laws of thermodynamics consist of 4 parts. The zeroth is known as the first, second and third law.
Zeroth law:
When the two systems interact with each other and their states do not change, they are said to be in balance. If the two systems are in balance separately with a third system, these systems are also in balance between themselves.
First law:
Energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can transform from one form to another.
Second law:
Heat cannot flow instantly from a cold to a warm one; In other words, heat at a certain temperature cannot completely turn into work.
Third law:
As temperature approaches absolute zero, entropy converges to zero. Absolute zero temperature corresponds to -273.15 degrees on the Celsius scale and 0 degrees on the Kelvin scale.
