Hello, today i'll try to explain what are the high-level programming languages as i can.
High-level programming languages are kind of languages that help us to develop user friendly softwares independently of hardware. The first high-level programming languages were designed in the 1950s.
It wasn't that easy to develop a software back in the old computer days. Because developer had to know hw revision and machine languages. Thanks to high-level programming languages work with syntax, these barriers are no longer exist.
High-level programming languages more look like modern-day programming languages than machine languages (01010100 01001000 01010100). Nowadays it's so easy to both learn and write to programming because it look like real languages.
Actually machines can't read these programs, because it's not in machine languages. That's why they can't communicate. We can think this like two person know different languages for example Turkish and French. Machine can read the codes written in high-level programming languages by interpreter or compiler.
Most of nowadays programming languages are high-level, such as: C++, C#, Java, Visual Basic, etc.
Ada
Ada is a structured, statically typed, imperative, and object-oriented high-level programming language. It was ordered by The United States Department of Defense in between 1975-83 for one of their teams. It was thought as common software that runs some hardwares in army. It's extended from ALGOL, Pascal, and PL/1.
ALGOL
ALGOL stands for Algoritmic Language. It was ensued from studied for creating an universal and international high-level programming language. We can say that this language is ancestor of some languages such as C++ and Java.
BASIC
It's a high-level programming language that is used in various variant nowadays.
C++
C++ is a high-level, general-purpose programming language created by Bjarne Stroustrup as an extension of the C programming language.
C#
C# is one of the nowadays commonly used programming languages. It bears a resemblance to Java because they both came from ALGOL. Despite being developed to remove inconsistencies in languages such as C ++ and Visual Basic, it has managed to become one of the most advanced object oriented languages.
COBOL
This language was developed for global use about business by a committee from Universities, Governments, and Enterprises.
Fortran
Usually it's used for numerical and scientific calculations. It effected some languages like BASIC and ALGOL 58.
Java
Java is a class-based, object-oriented, general-purpose programming language.
Javascript
JavaScript is high-level, often just-in-time compiled, and multi-paradigm. It has curly-bracket syntax, dynamic typing, prototype-based object-orientation, and first-class functions.
Objective-C
Objective-C is a general-purpose, object-oriented programming language that adds Smalltalk-style messaging to the C programming language.
Visual Basic
Visual Basic is a third-generation event-driven programming language from Microsoft after BASIC.
Pascal
It's an important programming language whose various derivatives are still widely used. It's affected by ALGOL. And affected some languages like Ada, and Java.
Perl
It can run in nearly all of operating systems. It's affected by Python, Pascal, C, C++. And it affected some languages like Python, PHP, Ruby, and Javascript.
PHP
It's a programming language that developed for internet, server-side, general-purpose, and can be embedded in HTML. It's affected by C, Perl, Java, and C++.
Python
Most of us started to learn programming with this language. It's a object-oriented, interpretive, and interactive language. It can run almost all of platforms. You can develop something in so many areas with Python. It's affected by ALGOL 68, C, Java, and Perl. And it affected some languages like Ruby and Javascript.
Prolog
This is a logic programming language from fifth generation computer languages used in AI.
Ruby
It's a object-oriented, functional programming language. It's affected by Perl, Python, C++, and Ada. And it affected some languages like Swift.
Swift
It's a programming language that developed by Apple to develop application in iOS and Mac. This language is affected by Objective-C, Python, and C#.
